Unintentional Intolerance

Steve Robbins (pictured) will discuss "Unintentional Intolerance: What Nice People Need to Know" during a 3 p.m. event 17 November in 93 Auditorium at Eli Lilly and Company's corporate headquarters in Indianapolis.

Dr. Robbins, a diversity expert, notes that "cognitive flexibility and behavioral adaptability are necessary for navigating a 21st century world". A reception follows his presentation.

Asian Festival Scheduled for 10 May

The Asian American Alliance, Inc., and Indy's Garfield Park will host the first-ever Asian Festival on 10 May. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can sample food and buy merchandise from vendors from all over Asia – China, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Burma, Cambodia, Thailand, India and Indonesia – all under one roof in Garfield Park.

Artwork of Asian artists in Indianapolis will also be on display at the Garfield Arts Center. Plus, cultural entertainment and activities will be offered throughout the day. Admission is free.

The festival is held in conjunction with the Asian Pacific-American Heritage Month, the month of May, as designated by the United States Congress.

Two Worlds, One Language Through Art

Watch for announcements concerning a major collaboration of the arts in Indy. In addition to an exhibition of more than sixty paintings by the faculty at the Shandong College of Arts in Jinan, China, an entire calendar filled with activities is planned.

It's being held 28 June through 23 August at the Indianapolis Art Center, in collaboration with the Confucius Institute of Indianapolis, Lilly Chinese Culture Network, Asian American Alliance, Indianapolis Chinese Community Center, Indiana Association of Chinese Americans, Indianapolis Chinese Performing Arts and the International Center of Indianapolis.
