Heartland, the annual 10-day celebration of international film, includes movies from Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Russian Federation, Rwanda, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan (and the United States).

Irish storyteller Niall de Burca comes to the Indiana Historical Society, 450 West Ohio Street, Indianapolis, for two performances.

The first, "Takes for the Telling", is 7 p.m. 3 December 2010. Tickets are $5 for children 5-12 and $10 for adults. The second, "Ancestor Tales: The Old Stories of Ireland", is 7:30 p.m. 4 December. Tickets in advance are $20, and $25 at the door.

Raised in the west coast of Ireland, de Burca now lives in the capital of Dublin. He is a tradition-bearer at ease in both Gaelic and English, telling the old stories with charm.

Elanco to Expand European Presence

Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. says it is acquiring the European rights to a portfolio of certain Pfizer Animal Health products, reports Inside INdiana Business. As part of the deal, Lilly's animal heath division, Elanco, will acquire a manufacturing facility in Sligo, Ireland, currently used in the production of animal vaccines.

Did you know that the festival honors Lotus Dickey (1911-1989)? The folk singer, songwriter, and musician from rural Orange County, Indiana, wrote tunes and songs that drew from his family and community, as well as from country singers and fiddlers he heard on the radio. Each year, the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival honors Lotus Dickey's memory with a set of music or an interactive workshop that introduces new audiences to his music and the old-time traditions of the United States.

Zimmer Holdings Expands to Ireland

Zimmer Holdings is building a new plant in Ireland, reports Inside INdiana Business. Speedway Connects with Ireland

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has reached a licensing agreement with Waterford Crystal to produce crystal awards, premiums and consumer products for all IMS events.

Waterford Crystal is headquartered in Waterford, Ireland, a center of crystal making since the late 1700s. The company designs, manufactures and markets an extensive range of crystal objets d’art, stemware and gifts for distribution throughout the world.

Indianapolis Liederkranz' Cabaret Series

The next cabaret evening at the Liederkranz, 1417 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, stars Patrick Grant. His "Songs of My Homeland" will feature music from Ireland and Scotland.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, 10 March, with food and drink available for purchase.
