Kimball to Make Safety Devices For German Firm

Jasper-based Kimball Electronics Group, Inc. (KEG) has received a contract to build gas, electrochemical and explosion detection devices for a German company, reports Inside INdiana Business. Draeger will use KEG's products in its PEX 3300 program that includes devices for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Production will begin in the spring at KEG's facility in Jasper. KEG is a subsidiary of Kimball International, Inc.

Strassenfest This Weekend in Jasper

Head south to Jasper for the annual German-American Strassenfest this weekend.

It's 31 July through 3 August with traditional events and activities, carnival rides, 32 booths and games were spread over several locations, with major events on and near the square in the very heart of Jasper.

The Strassenfest is a celebration of Jasper's German Heritage.

According to reports on the event's website, Jasper's colors are black, red and gold -- saluting not only this Hoosier German town but also the country of origin of the vast majority of its citizens -- and Jasper's Sister City, Pfaffenweiler, where many families, after two world wars, once again are in touch with relatives and namesakes.

Indiana's International Festivals

Major thanks to the F.C. Tucker Company of Indianapolis for publishing a brochure the Nationalities Council of Indiana has been trying to get funded and printed for decades! "International Festivals", mailed to its extensive list this week, includes details on sixteen different cultural celebrations around the state, from "Taste of Noble County Ethnic Festival" on 17 May in Ligonier to our very own International Festival 20-23 November in Indianapolis (all the festivals -- and more -- are on our calendar). As it says in the brochure, "We embrace our mixture of heritages and ethnicities with annual city festivals that feature crafts, entertainment, demonstrations, parades, and, most of all, food (because Hoosiers have never met a cuisine that wasn't worth celebrating!)." Next time you see a Tucker agent, say thanks!

Of course, there are many more ethnic festivals than these in Indiana, but this brochure is a great start!)

Kimball Electronics Expands in Poland

Kimball Electronics Group, Inc., a subsidiary of Kimball International, Inc., has announced that the company's Kimball Electronics-Poland facility has been awarded a major new business program to manufacture automotive steering systems for the European market.

Kimball Electronics Group is a global contract electronics manufacturing services company that specializes in durable electronics with applications in the automotive, medical, industrial controls, and public safety industries.

Kimball International, based in Jasper, Ind., has manufacturing operations in the U.S., Mexico, Thailand, Poland, Wales, Ireland, and China.
